Guitar Type: 3/4 Electric Guitar
Today I want to introduce you to probably the best electric guitar for kids you can find on the market – the Squier by Fender Mini Stratocaster*. It’s a perfect first guitar for teens and older kids. But I don’t think the Squier Mini is just for kids or students. It is also an ideal travel guitar and the perfect choice for anyone with small hands or anyone who just finds the neck and action of the larger guitars too uncomfortable and difficult to handle.
Review of the Fender Squier Mini Strat
Even though this electric guitar for kids is small, it still has all three Fender single-coil pickups as the versatility of the five-way switch that switches between different combinations of pickups. It also has a volume and tone control like any other standard electric guitar. It has many of the same attributes as its bigger, famous and iconic brother, the Fender Stratocaster. The guitar I reviewed has a black finish, but they also come in a variety of other colors (e.g. pink version for girls). The neck is made of rosewood and has a small profile that is very comfortable to play. The finish and the hardware seem to be really good and will probably last a long time. The action is also quite low, which is very important for beginners and especially for kids when they start to learn guitar. The action of a guitar is the height of the strings above the neck and a low action allows you to play scales very easily.
As for the sound, let me put it this way: Through a bigger amp it sounds like a regular Stratocaster. That’s definitely a big advantage of a reduced-size electric guitar, because the sound is produced by the amp and not by the soundhole like on an acoustic. A reduced-size acoustic guitar will always sound less full and bright than a full-size acoustic. Besides this little fact, the Squier Mini Strat has a very universal guitar sound, whether hard rock or country, any style sounds good on it. It plays amazingly well for something in this price range and the strings stay in tune well.
All in all, it’s a great starting guitar for any beginner, or a traveling companion for all the passionate guitarists out there.
– amplifier and accessories incl.
– great quality and finish
ATTENTION: It sometimes happens that people order an electric guitar online and completely forget to get an amplifier as well. It’s even more common to forget to get a cable to connect the guitar to the amp, because you might think it comes with the amp, but it doesn’t. That’s why sometimes it’s a smart idea to get a package.
